SECURE CARGO DETAILS

TLIA1001 Secure Cargo is a comprehensive training program. This course is for those who require training and qualification for loading and securing cargo, predominantly for heavy vehicles.

It involves the skills and knowledge needed to secure cargo with procedures and regulatory requirements as part of work activities within the transport and logistics industry.

Things to know in the TLIA1001 course

It includes preparing to secure cargo/containers, lashing and unlashing cargo, protecting cargo from weather, and packing and unpacking cargo.Work is performed under supervision, generally within a team environment.

This course is ideal for individuals involved in logistics, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain operations. It focuses on the best practices, regulations, and techniques to ensure cargo remains secure throughout shipping.

The learning outcome for TLIA1001 – SECURE CARGO

  • Understanding workplace policies and procedures along with local and international standards and legislative requirements relevant to securing cargo or freight.
  • WH&S and Environmental policies, along with safe handling standards.
  • Pre Job-Meetings, including procedures for managing and controlling hazardous situations and problem-solving.
  • Planning for work operations, including securing lifted material.
  • We are identifying load characteristics to ensure safe transportation.
  • Cargo and load management, including marking and numbering systems.
  • Identifying lashing points and appropriate fittings
  • We are securing cargo/containers.
  • Lashing and unlashing cargo

Course Duration

The Licence to Operate A Forklift Truck (TLILIC2001) is completed in 25 hours over 3 days.
Primary Skills Required to Participate in this Course.

Applicants must be able to perform the following to be eligible for this course

  • Must read and interpret relevant regulations, instructions, manuals, notices and signs applicable to their role of driving operations within the road transport industry
  • Always speak clearly and directly on ongoing operations within the road transport industry.
  • Complete all the documents as part of duties, including completing relevant forms.
  • Consistently identify and solve or report problems arising during the job role of driving operations within the road transport industry.
  • Recognise issues in driving operations within the road transport industry and take appropriate action to report or resolve the issues within the responsibility limits.
  • Recognise hazards and risks in various driving operation situations within the road transport industry.
  • Respond appropriately to any changes in equipment.
  • Always follow and apply operational and emergency plans, systems and procedures.
  • Comply with applicable road safety regulations and codes of practice.
  • Collect and interpret information needed during driving operations within the road transport industry within the limits of responsibility.
  • Follow and apply the applicable safe working requirements and WHS/OHS procedures during driving operations within the road transport industry.

Prerequisite Information

There are no prerequisites, although it is expected candidates hold a current driver’s licence.

Recognition

Participants will receive a statement of attainment, TLIA1001A – Secure Cargo.

Entry Requirements

Participants must be over eighteen (18) years old and have moderate English language knowledge and literacy and numeracy skills.

Pathways

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency, students may undertake a range of associated construction, resources, logistics and warehousing units and qualifications.

Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency, students may seek employment in warehousing, manufacturing, construction, resources and transport industries.

Outcomes of Secure Cargo Training

After completing the course, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment competency for these units: TLID0015 – Load and unload goods/Cargo and TLIA1001 Secure Cargo.

Students deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The statements were issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).
